| Recent developments in information and communication technologies and extensive implementation of sensors, computer networks, and cloud computing have prepared the infrastructure for Industry 4.0. Industry 4.0 is a research priority for the European Research Council, mainly under the Horizon 2020 program (Bagheri et al., 2015). Today, many enterprises are hostile as well as skeptical towards technologies and tools coming together with this advanced approach. In this context, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in Industry 4.0 is a new system providing many opportunities, but also a wide variety of challenges.An ERP system is an integrated software solution, which consists of a range of business processes in a single database, a single application with a unified interface. Using ERP systems can be seen as significant for a future competitive strategy of a company (Ehie & Madsen, 2005). To keep up with Industry 4.0 in a global perspective, large-scale enterprises, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), are embarking upon to transfer their traditional systems to ERP systems. Because, ERP systems offer a wide variety of opportunities for increasing productivity, quality, throughput, overall business performance, as well as several challenges. Nevertheless, ERP systems are one of the solutions for SMEs to face global challenges (Deshmukh et al., 2015).
