Özet
In the present work, the non-essential heavy metals (Cd, Hg, Pb) in soft tissues of small needle whelk Bittium reticulatum, striped venus clam Chamelea gallina, nerite mud-snail Cyclope neritea and Lucinella divaricata from İğneada shores of the Black Sea were assessed. The mean amounts of Cd, Hg and Pb determined for all types of Mollusca were 0.21±0.03, 0.05±0.005, 0.57±0.04 mg/kg dry wt., respectively. Cd and Pb amounts in bivalves C. gallina and L. divaricata were higher than those in gastropod molluscs B. reticulatum and C. neritea, whereas Hg was high in gastropod molluscs. However, these levels in all species were below the acceptable values. This study suggests that the species might be used for monitoring trace metal pollution in coastal ecosystems.
