| Pollution load index, defined as the nth root of the multiplicity of the presumed contaminants, is used to determine the quality of the sediment samples. The PLI shows how polluted the sediment is an indication of the overall toxicity of the sediment (Tomlinson et al., 1980). PLI is calculated according to the following equation: |
