| This study aims to examine the political and social aspects of surveillance policies that are increasingly widespread in digital spaces. A theoretical framework is presented that questions whether digital surveillance tools, especially facial recognition technologies, are used for security reasons or to control society. For this purpose, first, it will focus on why people consent to being monitored. Second, it will address how data is published very quickly and uncontrolledly thanks to the fluidity of surveillance, and finally, how digital authorities, who are in the position of surveillance, transform the data they obtain into a tool of social control. The study is structured based on a qualitative research approach, and the literature review method was adopted as the data collection tool.
