| Özet |
| Pairs of highly energetic jets of particles (dijets) are produced through pointlike scattering of quarks and gluons (partons) in proton-proton (pp) collisions. Measurements of dijet production at the CERN LHC allow the testing of parton interactions predicted by quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at the highest energy scales with unprecedented precision [1–5]. As an attempt to address open questions not explained by the standard model (SM) of particle physics, many theories beyond the SM (BSM) have been proposed. Several of these models predict new interactions of quarks and gluons, making dijet production sensitive to signatures of BSM physics, including quark compositeness [6–8], extra dimensions [9, 10], quantum black holes (QBHs)[11–15], dark-matter (DM) mediators [16, 17], axion-like particles (ALPs)[18], and anomalous gluon couplings in an effective field theory (EFT)[19].Example processes of dijet production through QCD and BSM interactions are depicted in Fig. 1. At leading order (LO), dijet production in pp collisions has significant contributions from t-channel scattering (an example diagram with strong coupling gS is shown in Fig. 1, upper row, left). The BSM processes, however, can be dominated by s-channel production, as well as four-fermion contact interactions (CIs). Depending on the masses and couplings of BSM particles, they can manifest themselves as resonances in pair production, or nonresonant modification of the dijet cross section as a function of the invariant mass and scattering angle. Resonant production of BSM particles has been strongly constrained by searches in the dijet invariant mass spectrum by the … |
