Özet
Laboratory studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of photoperiod regime (light:dark cycles of 0:24, 3:21, 6:18, 9:15, 12:12, 15:9, 18:6, 21:3 and 24:0 h) and natural food quality (solid and fluid) on the pre-adult development time, adult longevity, fecundity and sex ratio of D. melanogaster. Fluid food comprised grape vinegar (100 cc), sugar (20 g) and yeast (15 g), while solid food comprised water (74.2 cc), molasses (13.5 g) and maize flour (10 g). Development under fluid food treatment was faster than that under solid food treatment in the different photoperiods. Short-day conditions reduced the developmental time, under both food treatments. In continuous light and dark conditions, the average pre-adult developmental time was 10.9 and 12.9 days under fluid food treatment, and 19.3 and 21.3 under solid food treatment, respectively. Males generally showed higher longevity than females regardless of …
