| As a result of the increase in population and urbanization, engineers and managers who design wastewater and storm water systems face a number of difficulties. However, local governments have to maintain or improve the level of service in the face of aging wastewater infrastructure, provide services to new customers in need of sewer service, and comply with environmental regulations that are increasingly strict. Also for the occurrence of city floods, lack of capacity of infrastructure facilities is one of the most important factors. Therefore, sewage and storm water network systems have to be designed as the discrete systems, especially in metropolis. In order to overcome these difficulties, wastewater and storm water management today is done via the computer models and other technologies. A computer model is a computer program representing a physical system that approximates or reflects specific behaviors of that system. A computer model usually contains one or more mathematical models. Hydraulic analysis programs implement the most appropriate one of many alternative solutions to model by detailed hydraulic calculations. Innovations such as GIS, SCADA, optimization, and the graphical user interfaces provide guests to engineers, and managers to operate their systems more efficiently. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) plays an important role in many spatial applications. |
