Özet
Philaenus spumarius exhibits a wide zoogeographical distribution in the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions. It feeds by sucking plant sap and transmits plant pathogens from diseased to healthy plants. The nymphs, which hatch in mid-April, undergo 5 nymphal phases until the end of May. Froth masses can be observed frequently from mid-May to early-June, where adults emerge. The population density of adults is highest in June and November and lowest in March and April.
