HBV, HCV and HIV seroprevalance in applicant donors of Kirklareli State Hospital Blood Center: a retrospective study

| The aim of our study is to determine HBV, HCV and HIV seroprevalance of applicant donors to blood center by analysing the records of the applicant donors in Kirklareli State Hospital blood center. In our study the registry records of Kirklareli State Hospital blood center were searched thoroughly and 2147 donor data were evaluated retrospectively, obtained by means of analyzing the HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti HIV tests during January 2005 to December 2007. The blood samples were analyzed by chemiluminescence immunoassay method. The donors who were between 26-45 years of age form the majority of 2147 donors (between 18-65 years of age). Our sample was formed 2098 (97.7%) male donors and 49 (2.3%) female donors. HBsAg seropositivity and HCV seropositivity were determined as 1.7% (n=36) and 0.3% (n=6) respectively.
