Özet
Terrestrial snails, almost never consumed in Turkey, are exported processed or fresh by Fishery Products Processing Plants to EU countries, USA, South America and to Far East countries such as Japan and China. Since no protecting or limiting measures are effective in the scope of fisheries announcements except a 2 months (June-July) of banning period for terrestrial snail hunting, rational utilization of natural stocks can not be realized. It is of extremely importance to determine the allowable shell lengths and appropriate seasons for hunting in an effort to protect the species, to provide a sustainable hunting and to make contribution to Turkish economy.
