A study on the biometrics of rapa whelk (Rapana venosa Valenciennes, 1846)

| This study was investigated biometric specialties of rapa whelk in inner and outer harbor of Sinop during three periods. In each period randomly chosen 100 samples were studied individually. During the whole study 600 individual were used. According to periods, investigated rapa whelk’s total lengths in inner harbor, were; 7.9 4.4 cm, 8.1 0.9 cm, 8.2 1.1 cm, in outer harbor were; 7.8 0.9 cm, 6.9 0.6 cm, 9.9 0.6 cm. Also total weight in inner harbor were; 91.8 22.9 g, 77.8 29.2 g, 100.5 52.2 g, in outer harbor were; 82.5 28.3 g, 54.5 16.8 g, 53.9 18.1 g, respectively. According to statistical analyses were carried out; total live weight differences were significant (p< 0.05), total length, width and mouth width differences were found insignificant (p> 0.05). |
