| Field studies were conducted to determine oat genotypes suitable for Menemen (Turkey) ecological conditions, during the 2009/10 growing season. The grain yield, thousand kernel weight, test weight, harvest index, big grain rate, plant height and days to heading were determined in 50 oat genotypes. The following results were obtained in the oat yield trial-1 (OYT-1): grain yield 271-531 kg/da; thousand kernel weight 23.2-35.4 g; test weight 50.3-57.7 kg; harvest index 20.1-41.3%; big grain rate 3-29%; plant height 82.5-150 cm; and days to heading 97-117 days. The results for some characters in the OYT-2 were as follows: grain yield 174.5-403.5 kg/da; thousand kernel weight 22.5-29.5 g; test weight 47.1-53.5 kg/hl; harvest index 7.2-36.5%; big grain rate 3-29%; plant height 112.5-155 cm; and days to heading 99-123 days.
