Özet
The parasitic fauna of the toothcarp Aphanius danfordii, an endemic fish from Sarikum Lagoon Lake in Sinop, Turkey, was investigated monthly throughout a one-year period (May 2003-April 2004). A total of 423 toothcarps were investigated for ecto- and endoparasites. In this investigation, a total of 12 different parasite species were identified. These were 3 species of protozoans, Trichodina domerguei, Trichodina modesta and Tripartiella macrosoma, which are new records for Turkey, and 9 species of metazoan parasites, Gyrodactylus sp., Salsuginus sp., Ascocotyle sp., Posthodiplostomum sp. Hysterothylacium aduncum, Capillaria sp., Spiroxys contortus, Neoechinorhynchus rutili and Ergasilus sieboldi. Infestation prevalence (%), mean intensity levels and photomicrographs of identified parasites are presented in tables and figures, respectively.
