| The parasite fauna of flounder, Platichthyes flesus, caught monthly by net fishing in the Sarikum Lagoon Lake in Sinop (Turkey) between the period May 2003-April 2004 was determined. A total of 296 flounder specimens were investigated for their parasites. Fish length was measured and the numerical distribution and site of infection of parasites were recorded. A total of 14 parasite species including Trichodina domerguei, T. jadranica, Riboscyphidia sp., Ambiphrya sp., Vorticella sp., Gyrodactylus flesi, Ascocotyle sp., Paradilepis scolecina, Dichelyne minutus, Hysterothylacium aduncum, Capillaria sp., Spiroxys contortus, Neoechinorhynchus rutili and Ergasilus sieboldi were identified. Trichodina spp. and Ascocotyle sp. were detected as dominant species with highest prevalence and intensity.
