| From the time children are born, the curiosity and the need to act is oriented towards play, and play activities, which change in form and content over time, not only entertain them, but also contribute greatly to all areas of development. Being the primary goal of childhood period, play is one of the activities that the child engages in freely, gives him pleasure, improves and entertains the child. At the same time, it is a tool which helps the child get to know himself and the world, develop his skills to gain experiences and communicate, and prepare him for the adulthood. Play, which is a natural part of a child’s daily life and his primary interest, also has the potential to be an active learning environment. Therefore, it is an integral part of child education (Yavuzer, 2004; Tüfekçioğlu, 2001). Many studies prove the significance of play with regards to multifaceted development of child. All children throughout the world are enthusiastic and skillful at play. Play seems interesting and inviting to children with regards to its beginning, content, place and the materials that are used. Different beginnings and surprises during the play, going beyond the ordinary, using new and interesting materials and different places, and controlling the distracting external stimuli all affect children focusing on this process (Tuğrul, 2010). According to Boyer (1997), many researchers investigating play state that it is crucial for the development of children, highlighting that it greatly affects the creativity, academic success, and shaping the behavior of children.
