| The secularization process of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire and the weakening authority over them of the Istanbul Patriarchate and the Oregorian clergy are analysed and the impacts of the Oreat Powers on the Armenians' ethnic based nation building in place of the Ottoman millet system on the grounds of religious identity are criticized. |
